Binyavanga Wainaina, the controversial author, journalist, and gay rights activist is dead.

His promotion to glory draws a curtain on what was an illustrious career as an author, journalist, gay rights activist, a man whom many considered controversial given the restrictively conservative nature of Kenyan culture.

But the opinions of many did nothing to hide his brilliance with the accolades and awards he garnered including being the 2002 winner of the Caine Prize for African Writing. In April 2014, Time magazine included Wainaina in its annual TIME 100 as one of the "Most Influential People in the World.

Back in 2018, Binyavanga announced he would be marrying his partner and this set KOT ablaze. You would think this wouldnae come as a shock given the man had admitted to knowing he was gay from the age of 5.

We here at Kiss 100 wish to condole his family and partner and we pray that he finds rest in the bosom of God where he would undoubtedly find eternal peace.
