Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru is in hospital after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

According to the Star, the former MP and founder of the Jesus Is Alive Ministries had hosted 18 people at her house before she fell ill.

The government, in its directives, has forbidden the gathering of more than 15 people in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

It is not clear why the gathering happened but the Star has confirmed that eight  of those 18 people have also tested positive.

The former MP is currently in hospital on oxygen, according to sources familiar with the case.

Current Starehe MP, Jaguar joined other Kenyans in wishing her a quick recovery.

“TODAY, I JOIN THE PEOPLE OF STAREHE IN WISHING BISHOP MARGARET WANJIRU, OUR FORMER MP, A QUICK AND FULL RECOVERY. LET US ALSO REMEMBER ALL THE OTHER COVID-19 PATIENTS IN STAREHE, KENYA, AND BEYOND. YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS. GOD WILL GRANT US VICTORY OVER THIS INVISIBLE ENEMY.”

The senate leader of majority, Samuel Poghisio also tweeted,

“I WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WISH FORMER STAREHE MP & FOUNDER JESUS IS ALIVE MINISTRY BISHOP MARGARET WANJIRU QUICK RECOVERY AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19. WE SHALL OVERCOME.”
