Anjlee Gadhvi, one of the most beloved journalists in the country, is dead. The former K24 Anchor and Cancer Warrior passed on today at 1315hrs while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan hospital.

Gadhvi was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2013, but went public about it in 2015, after funds raised by family and friends got drained. After she appealed for public help, Kenyans donated over Ksh6 million in hours.

The last message Anjlee posted on her Instagram page before she died was on the 24th of December. The photo was Anjlee with her mother and her kids.

So happy here my mum joined me on vacation. She managed to take a break after 20 so years and make it to Mombasa! She couldn’t recognize county 001 but recalled so many of childhood memories… to feel the Indian Ocean, her breeze, her sand is healing and rejuvenating on it’s own! But making memories with her grandchildren and me…. cannot be described. It gave me a sense of satisfaction.. I just hope I make it through and make many more memories!

Happy holidays lovely people!

Last year alone the country has lost prominent leaders like Bob Collymore, Ken Okoth and Joyce Laboso to cancer, something that the government has ‘started’ taking more seriously.
