Brenda Wairimu and Mkamzee Mwatela, stars in SARAFINA musical directed by British Theatre Stuart Nash who is an artistic director at the Kenya National Theatre. The musical is set to take place in July 12th- 15th July and 20th – 22nd July.
The show is based on the original film written in 1992 which tells the story of a young black student struggling to fight apartheid in South Africa. The film is centered on students involved in the Soweto riots, opposing the use of Afrikaans as the language of instruction in schools.
Other co- stars are Patrick Oketch, Hellen Mtawali and Music star Gilad.
Stuart Nash has spearheaded musical productions such as JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR starring Mugambi Nthiga, Nice Githinji and Martin Githinji, GREASE starring Elsaphan Njora, Nick Ndeda and Ian Mbugua. Most recently he directed the classic plays Caucasian Chalk Circle and Kigogo, all at the National Theatre.
