American actress, Kerry Washington – who stars in hit TV show Scandal – took to the stage to accept the International TV actress accolade, a well-earned triumph for one of the most remarkable television performances this year.

The Glamour cover girl for July was presented her award by Christian Louboutin, looked delighted to receive her gong. The 38-year-old style icon certainly looked the part in black embellished floor-length number.


Kerry has helped make Scandal the compulsive hit it is today and her role as crisis management expert Olivia Pope only makes the show more unmissable. So who better than to bestow International Actress accolade to?

The Scandal talked about ‘modern glamorous feminism’ in her speech.She said: “Modern glamorous feminism is about being in a fabulous red soled shoe and being on a pedestal and having a voice and being a three dimensional person.”

She added: “A part of me will always be a little girl in New York City riding the subway to the Bronx and I’m so lucky to be in this show. This is the golden age of television and it’s great to be a woman. I only have a job because you guys watch me!”
