Family Kenyan journalist Soni Methu, the former host of CNN’s “Inside Africa,” has paid tribute to her.

Soni collapsed suddenly and died en-route to the hospital, her sister, Faith Methu, said in a statement.

The cause of death remains unknown.

The family released a beautifully worded tribute that will bring tears to your eyes.

In a joint statement, the family wrote:

"Our dearly departed Soni, may the winds of heaven, blow softly and whisper in your ear, just how much we love you. And wish that you were here."

The statement added, "In the three days since Soni passed, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring love for her, and of support for us.

Our family is devastated, and we know so many others share our pain. Soni touched many lives and brought beauty, light and love to those she touched, at home and globally. In coming days we will finalise plans for her farewell."

The family also made an announcement on the ongoing funeral plans.

"To this end, the family has planned to hold for her a farewell and celebration of her life on the 23rd April, 2019 at their home in Eldoret, Kenya where she shall be laid to rest. We hope to hold a wake in Diani and in Nairobi respectively before then."

They requested that "ahead of that, we would appreciate the time and peace in which to grieve."

They concluded the tribute with a poem.

"Soni, we mourn you.

We are pained.

We celebrate you. We appreciate the privilege of your light in our Iives.

We take comfort knowing you are now at peace. We love you.

Forever in Light and Love.

A people's person."

Soni hosted “Inside Africa,” CNN International’s longest-running feature program, from 2014 until 2015 when the show moved to a new format without a presenter.

To all the friends and family of Soni, we at Kiss100.co.ke send our sincere condolences. May she rest with the angels.
