Nema through Environment and Land Court Judge Loice Komingoi has been compelled to enforce closure notices against Kiza lounge in Kilimani, B Club, Space Lounge and Grill and Explorer Tavern after residents complained of loud music.

This is not the first time the order has been given to shut down the clubs. Last year the same list of clubs were to be shut down and nothing happened. In fact, the clubs are growing.

Space Lounge recently expanded its space to accommodate more customers.

Kilimani Project Foundation has gone to court again and Komingoi has once again issued orders for the clubs to be shut down.

The residents claimed that the operators of those businesses play loud music daily and host rowdy revelers, thereby depriving them of sleep and security.

“The clubs were in contravention of the EMCA (Noise and excessive vibration pollution) control regulations 2009,” she said.

The Nairobi county government was further compelled to revoke all liquor licenses issued to the four clubs.

However, the judge declined to grant orders to permanently restrain the clubs from carrying on their business as they already have the necessary licenses duly issued although unlawfully.

“What goes on in these establishments is causing a bad influence to the children, thus violating our rights and freedoms,” they argued.

Space Lounge is famously known for holding lit nights with guest Dj's making appearances each and every weekend. It is also famous for holding theme nights including the famous reggae night and Karaoke nights.

In the past few months, the club had acquired a new turn up style where they had different cultural nights. From Mugithi Night to Kamba night among others that were planned before the end of 2019.
