What is happening? Nigerians copying Kenyan music!!!
While allegations of musicians stealing or copying other artistes’ songs or sounds are not new, this one surely deserves your attention.
There are a lot of similarities between Eric Onyango Omollo aka Qritiqal’s song Won’t Tell and Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie aka Patoranking and Naseeb Abdul Juma aka Diamond Platnumz’ song, Love You Die, leaving many Kenyans with many questions than answers.
Qritiqal is the latest Kenyan singer signed by Nigerian music label, Chocolate City.
Won’t Tell was released on 18th April 2017 while Patoranking and Diamond Platnumz’ Love you die was released on 1st September 2017. Isn’t that interesting and a bit fishy at the same time?
Many among them popular publicist, Ado Veli has come out to talk about this song and he said
“I happen to stumble upon similarities between Qritiqal’s song Won’t Tell and Patoranking and Diamond’s song, Love You Die. Love you die and Won’t Tell both have an afro fused reggae ragga rhythm to it. The melodies in both songs are somehow similar especially in the beginning of the song even though the lyrics and vocals are marked differently.”
Did Patoranking and Diamond Platnumz copy Qritiqal’s Won’t Tell”
Here is the video of Patoranking and Diamond Platnumz song Love you Die, now its up to you to judge whether they are now copying our music.
Just how exciting is it that Olamide has a woman that makes his liver quiver? Well, just so you know, he’s as talented a rapper as he is loyal.
The Bariga raised rapper threw some light on his personality during an interview with Punch’s Sunday Scoop.
What we all know about the “Abule Sowo” rapper’s love life has been restricted to his son, Batifeori Maximilliano, but as they say, behind every successful man…
Besides, someone had to carry and give birth to his son.
Speaking about this incredible ‘mystery woman’ who has held him down for more than the last decade, Olamide said, with a smile on his face:
“I’ve actually been in a relationship for about 17 years now. As a matter of fact, she’s the most important reason I am where I am today. Her name is music.”
Speaking of the driving force behind his career, he said, “My major motivation comes from knowing that I came from the bottom, and I don’t want to go back there. I want to live a good life, and because of that, my working life is a relentless grind.
“I don’t want to go broke, and I don’t want anybody to look down on me. I’m still on top of my game because I don’t see myself as everything. I take advice from my mom, manager, and label mates, and they always help.
“They’re responsible for some of my ideas. Some things that people see and think is all about Baddo is actually their brainwork.”
He adds: “I didn’t start out to be an average artiste, I wanted to stand out. Right now, I’m living my dreams. All I can say is that my life right now is a dream come true.”
It is most soothing to know that as far as Olamide has come, he remains loyal and easy to relate with and that’s why we love him!
Afro-Funk-House artist Kagwe Mungai has teamed up with Afro-pop singer Dela and rapper Khaligraph Jones to produce a track in celebration of our local football heroes.
The song captures the celebratory, upbeat spirit that is inherent to Africa, to motivate football fans ahead of the much-anticipated football friendly match between the SPL-select team and Hull City FC.
The match set to take place on the 27th of February 2017, will see a Kenyan side play an English Premier League club for the first time in the history of the nation. This will go a long way in helping Kenya in its quest to participate in the 2022 World Cup.
According to Kagwe, the intention was for the track to be Kenyan but have an international sound hence the elements of African voices and sounds as well as modern sounding instrumentation to arouse a sense of patriotism in Kenyans and trigger support of local sports.
Dela whose Swahili cover of Hello got international accolades owes great chemistry from the first meeting of the artists in the studio to the success of the track. “I love it when everyone is on the same page, it makes for a great collabo,” she said adding that it took her under 20 minutes to write her part.
Khaligraph agrees with Dela that the trio was a power team each being amongst the leading in their different categories, hence the ease in which they put the anthem together.
Dela reckons that everyone should listen to the song, not just football fans because it’s bound to lift your spirits and get you moving. It could be just the thing to get anyone started on a project they’ve been postponing. “Because this life is a game, na hii game ni yetu,” she urged.
Since bursting onto the music scene, Adele has enjoyed unprecedented success – with her latest album, 25, becoming the fastest-selling in UK history.
And it appears that it’s all paying off for the star in a big way, as it’s been reported that she made over £500,000 (Ksh.64.8M) every night during her Adele Live world tour last year.
The 28-year-old singer has become one of the highest-paid performers ever after raking in the huge amount, according to new accounts filed by her firm Remedy Touring, of which she is the sole director.
The Sun reports that Adele’s company made a profit of £11.5million between October 2015 and April 2016.
Forget their romantic adventure, sharing clothes to even rocking matching outfits, Bahati’s fans seem to appreciate the fact that he has apparently found a bae. Now, why all the hate being showered on the gospel kid? Well, fans say that Bahati is taking them for fools after he put Diana Marua’s photo citing that the two are “Prayer Partners,” note he put the words in quotes.
Bahati would go ahead to ask who is complaining about him having that “Prayer Partner” something that made fans get fed up with what they say is immature. Others called upon the Mapenzi hit maker to come clear on the issue, citing that he is playing around with his fans. Is Bahati a liar now?
“This’s is the Year of seeking God – Who’s Complaining about me having a “PRAYER PARTNER??? 😂😂😂”
I remember well that ex EMB record signed artist Weezdom also had a prayer partner and came out to deny pregnancy claims made by the lady. Kwani aliekelewa ball?
Back to Baha – these two “Prayer Partners” must be making a good progress. Is it that prayer partners need a private prayer room to create the perfect atmosphere…? Maombi muhimu! Well, other fans have called upon this gospel wonder kid to grow up and come straight to clear the air with his fans, others verbally abusing him with words too hot to be written here.
Well, other fans have called upon this gospel wonder kid to grow up and clear the air while others verbally abused him with words too hot to be written here.
Baba Morgan sema ukweli! Even after other fans say Diana is older than Bahati, it is not yet revealed if the video vixen could actually be the big “Sister In Christ” cum “Prayer Partner” to the gospel hit maker.
I must admit, they look good, but it’s high time Bahati broke the silence and told your fans the truth. Efforts to reach Diana Marua and Bahati have been unfruitful, leaving us all still guessing…
This is the wild reaction he got from fans;
alphatimoz; Mnatufanyanga Watoi Sana…unataka kuficha Uongo Ndani Ya Maombi…be frank tell us ni your girlfriend..we will take you nowhere coz we love you… acha kucheza na akili zetu ukiongeza Jina prayer Hapo mwisho…@diana_marua @bahatikenya
ping_wa_mum; Prayer partner it’s inquotes but watu wako uku tu wakicatch mafeelings mnajua vile ni tricky kuitana bae 😂
qui_swtgal; Many will not say da truth, she beautiful in looks…bt she looks more older than you.(my opinion) [email protected] there’s something fisi (I mean fissy or is it fishy!)
rossen7; Stop lying to the world n ya fans @bahatikenya tell them she’s more than a prayer partner, bc prayer partners don’t drag each other along every time nor are they together in every picture. You don’t need to justify to us about your prayers
edwardmwangi534Nippee number ya prayer partner wako,I need prayers too☺️☺️
They say just like Kikohozi, love can never be hidden and this is true for rapper Timmy Tdat and singer Dela who are rumoured to be an item, although neither has set the record straight.
We all can see the apparent romance between these two and their interactions in public can not be hidden. Well, the rapper who hit headlines with his nasty public breakup with fellow rapper Kush Tracey seems to have moved on.
Just recently, the rapper went ahead to shut down claims that he and singer Vivian were an item after rumour went on that the two seemed to be seeing each other. Timmy Tdat has apparently moved on and has also said he is not seeing Vivian. It, however, looks like he may have a soft spot for Dela. Hii ni tricky!
Late last year, photos of them went viral with them holding hands, getting closer to each other prompting rumours that the two are an item. During Valentine’s, Timmy Tdat sent a Val’s message to an unknown lady whom we speculate could be the Mafeelings hit maker….
“Happy valentines dear.we met for a reason and I treasure each moment we spend together. You are very much loved and appreciated.you mean a lot to me and I thank God that I met you.. “Mbona unafanyanga nasikwa na mafeeling?” #trickydeh “
The first time I got wind of this story, I can recall just how excited I was. I knew it would be big but I did not have the slightest inkling of what lay in wait for me. I excitedly got as many details as I could (though they were admittedly scanty) and reached out to Akothee to hear her side of things.
But after I published that, we reached out to the one-time toyboy and found out that he is actually a huge artist down at the Coast who has even managed to score a collabo with Ali Kiba. He was receptive to our invites and agreed to an interview where he let us know what was happening with his love life, music and everything in between.
Dj Moz is among the most celebrated DJs in Kenya. As a matter of fact, he’s not just your ordinary kinda DJ; he is the definition of a veteran. He has been in the industry for years and is, quite frankly, very good at what he does.
From deejaying to being a host in a local gospel show, this guy is clearly going places.
One thing that is truly unique about him is that he hasn’t been linked to public controversies and such shenanigans. He is a private guy who does only what is beneficial to himself and his family.
Not only is he a public figure, he’s also a husband to one beautiful lady, Deborah, and a dad to two pretty girls, with another child on the way. Blessings upon blessings is what this is.
DJ Moz and Deborah have been married for 8 years and that’s a really big deal if you ask me.
During an interview with Edaily, DJ Moz revealed how his marriage has lasted 8 years considering how some people take the sacred union as a joke.
He said, “I think we learn every day, but there is definitely commitment, you know? When my wife and I got into a marriage setting, we knew that there is no plan B. This thing had to work out. And of course there is love – we love each other. We have loved each other for 11 years now. I met her in 2005 in November or December. So, there is love that has been brewing for a long time, and every day, we continue loving each other. It does not mean that we do not face challenges, but you know our love overcomes all those challenges.”
Diamond, one of East Africa’s biggest and most successful stars is out here looking like a million bucks after he launched a BMW i8 similar to the one Kev Mullei of Mo Sound drives. The car is estimated to cost around a hefty 13M Kenya shillings. Hizo pesa zili toka wapi???!!!!
His, however, is blue -to match his shoes – and he seems not to have been scathed at all by the recent drug busts in Tanzania that targeted top artists whom the government wanted to snitch on their dealers. The reason why I bring this up is because his own brother was among those arrested.
Mbesha shigana? That’s the all-important question we ask just before we start any business, and of course, you must work for that profit. It’s also true that the extra coin is just as important to the new generation gospel singers as it is for any other artiste, and Size 8 is not to be left out.
Secular cum gospel singer, Size 8 revealed that she is earning even more money from being in the gospel industry than she did during her time as a secular artist. And you wonder about the thinking behind Tiga Wana…
I guess she figured the easiest way to make millions is to delve into the gospel industry. It sure took guts to make release the controversial track she and fellow artist Willy Pozze did. By the way, have you ever understood the concept behind the song? Well, even after the two artistes explained a million times about it, it seems fans still consider it as a club banger and a Youtube hit and not a gospel song. Acha watafute pesa!
Fans felt that she was being affected by Willy Paul’s fever of just releasing music for fame and money.
Just when you wake up one day and feel you want to be a famous musician, get your pen and write a ‘gospel club banger’. You are sure to get numerous hits, radio plays, and Youtube views.
This is what Mama Wambo (Size 8) had to say;
“You want the honest truth? Getting born again in doing Gospel music was the best decision that I have ever made… I, of course, make more money and I have become a bigger brand than I was….I will never ever turn back”
Tiga Wana weeeh! Willy Pozze is back again and as expected, he’s in the middle of some form of scandal. The ever controversial artist has decided to try being a comedian and guess what? He had excuses galore for his bae on this Valentine’s day.
After a long silence, Willy Paul has decided to break the silence and in the best way ever. Pozze went off our radar after he was showered with after the hit of his controversial song Tiga Wana. The song has since then broken the Internet with over 1 million views on Youtube.
Well, the singer seems to be immune to the Valentine fever. The Fanya hitmaker made a hilarious video about men who come up with all manner of excuses on Valentine’s day. Was he one of them? The controversial artist spoke of how men pretend to be sick on the eve of Valentine’s, even claiming that their ATM cards get broken all of a sudden. Kwani mfuko imetoboka?
But hey Pozze, I thought doctors were on strike, right? Anyway, just when you thought he might be romantic, Willy Paul seemed to have no plans for Val’s, so you might be asking if he has a bae… To confirm it, Pozze does have a bae but he cancelled his wedding weeks to the big day and has since then moved on with rumours that he has found another lass.
He says that although they were rolling as a clique, someone could easily tell that they were living on different levels.
Khaligraph revealed that his financial situation was so bad at the time that he felt ashamed to ask Kristoff for his Sh200 fare home.
However, things took a turn 2012 in after he released Biashara Remix with STL. He revealed that he started getting shows and eventually, he became a household name.
He is about to drop a new song with Kenyan/Congolese female artiste, Alicios. Last year he was the talk of the town after he released a song with his girlfriend Cashy dubbed ‘Mi Casa Su Casa’. It was a hit for the last few months of the end of last year.
It is Valentine’s day and people are showing the colour of their heart. And it bleeds love -nothing but love. However, Emmy Kosgei has made an interesting revelation about her relationship with Apostle Anselm Madubuko.
Emmy Kosgei doesn’t shy away from showing off her love for the man of God who is almost twice her age.
Fans have been waiting for the award-winning megastar known for hits like Taai and Taunet Nelel to announce the eventual addition to the family.
Emmy Kosgei’s Valentine’s message dripped of nothing but love.
“I love this man.. he is the best thing that happened to me! I’m blessed with a loving and prayerful man, I’m blessed that I didn’t miss my divine moment.. Anselm Madubuko you mean the world to me! I’m wiser, deeper in things of God, you’ve made me a better person! You’ve shown me love and care.. I feel so special????????????????????… Nkem!” she wrote.
She also revealed that marriages are hard work, especially after Eunice Njeri’s lasted 24-hours.
EMMY WROTE, “YOU ARE THE GOD I SEE????????..I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BEYOND..! I DONT TAKE THIS FOR GRANTED COZ MANY MARRIAGES ARE GOING THRU FIRE,OTHERS HAVE DIVORCED,OTHERS ARE HANGING IN THERE,OTHERS ARE HEARTBROKEN… I AM GREATFUL HUN.AND I KEEP THEM IN PRAYERS.. MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU FOR ME! MAY HE GRANT YOU GRACE, WISDOM, HEALTH, LONGEVITY AND FRESH OIL AS YOU CARRY OUT YOUR APOSTOLIC MANDATE AS A GENERAL AND FATHER TO NATIONS! I LOVE YOU!❤ “YOUR NUBIAN QUEEN”
Chance the Rapper has won the Grammy for Best New Artist, validating the rapid rise of the hip-hop star who has released his music only via streaming services.
The rapper, who has been open about his Christianity, told the televised gala: “I claim the victory in the name of the Lord.”
“I know people think that independence means you do it by yourself, but independence means freedom,” Chance said as he pointed to members of his team.
The 23-year-old rapper from Chicago, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, won in the closely watched Grammy category against a field that included electronica crowd-pleasers, The Chainsmokers and experimental hip-hop artist Anderson .Paak.
“Coloring Book,” Chance’s mixtape released last year, incorporated gospel choir music and lyrically touched on his faith.
Chance the Rapper benefited from a change in Grammy rules this year to consider streaming-only releases. He did not sell “Coloring Book” as a CD or as downloads, saying he considered himself a touring artist.
“Coloring Book” nonetheless entered the top 10 on the US albums chart, the first for a streaming exclusive, as Chance promoted the work through an active social media campaign.
The mixtape featured appearances by top stars including Kanye West, a fellow Chicago rapper who was his early inspiration, and Justin Bieber.
Chance the Rapper has also used his rising platform to be an activist.
He has pleaded for an end to Chicago’s gun violence epidemic, waging a campaign similar to an album promotion that was credited with helping make May 23 a day without deadly shootings in the Midwestern metropolis.
He took up the anti-violence cause in collaboration with his father Ken Williams-Bennett, who has served as an aide to former president Barack Obama and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
We are nearing the general elections. It’s the time we elect leaders who will run the country and make a difference. Most times, however, that’s not the case. We are fed false promises that literally go down the drain.
When will this ever change, though? But as they say, change starts with you. If we vote wisely, we will definitely make a difference in our country.
As we approach the general elections, we tend to forget what we really need and focus on what we want, which most times doesn’t go the long way.
Kenyan songbird Dela is among the most talented female artistes in the country. She has been in the music industry for years now and her songs have been well received by the public.
Dela is urging Kenyans to vote wisely and it shouldn’t be a matter of just putting a tick in that box. Your decision about the leader you want makes a difference. Vote wisely for a better tomorrow.
Watch the video below;
In conjunction with voter registration, she released a song dubbed ‘Paza Sauti. The song mainly talks about the people of this country and how they should let their voices be heard. It states that they should not let anyone tell them otherwise because your voice matters and if we have a peaceful country, then everything will fall into place.
Ametoboa siri! Just when you thought that Bahati ‘Mtoto wa Mama’ achieved fame by working hard without struggling, think again…
In an exclusive interview with The Star during the launch of a local show dubbed, Story Yangu, the Maria hitmaker revealed the reason why he was so broke even though his hit song Mama was gracing the airwaves.
The multi-award winner disclosed that piracy was one of the things that led to him being broke. He went on to confess that in 2013, he was the artist who was most affected by piracy in Kenya. Yes, you heard right, the most pirated artist in Kenya.
The most shocking thing of all was that Baha revealed those who used to pirate his music were part of his own squad. He, however, says he did not want to complain since he wanted to be seen on TV. Some friends those were!
Well, the Machozi singer has since then graced our screens with his melodious voice, winning numerous awards, not forgetting the numerous events he has headlined to date.
On the flip side, he’s also been in the spotlight for his controversial beef with fellow artists. Let’s hope this year will be a no drama zone for Bahati.
This is what Bahati exclusively said;
“Nilikua naenda kwa watu wa piracy nasimama hapo..actually I think in 2013 I was one of the most pirated artists in Kenya…Na sikucompalin coz nilikua natamani bado nitokee kwa Tv…Nilikua naenda nasimama hapo wakiuza CD wananiambia ‘Kijana naona huu msanii ameku-inspire hadi unaeka nywele kama yeye.’
When the two called it quits and went their different directions, Timmy Tdat has been linked to a lot of women in the industry, from an upcoming singer called Faith Ngugi, to the mellow-voiced female artiste, Dela. Also on the list a while back was Vivian, popularly known for her hit song Charm.
So far, the speculation of a love affair with Dela has been the most-talked about so far, with the two celebrities fuelling the allegations over the last few weeks after posting videos and photos together. This was after they were spotted hanging out severally.
When Timmy was asked whether he was romantically involved with Dela, he refuted the claims, saying that they are just close friends and that she was actually teaching him how to sing! (Laughs out loud).
But before Dela, Timmy was rumoured to be dating stunning songstress, Vivian, who is currently riding high with her collaboration with Ugandan music legend, Jose Chameleone.
Back in August 2016, we speculated that love could be brewing between Vivian and Timmy after they were spotted getting cozy. It even looked more like feelings were involved and they were more than just friends or fellow artistes.
Vivian and the top rapper even attended several events together, with the hot lass sharing a video with Timmy on her social media. This move made fans speculate that there was something going on between them.
So, what is the truth about their closeness? Are they really dating, working on new music, close friends or just two artistes who met in the industry through the love of music? We only ask because Timmy actually included Vivian in his new song Trikide.
Several blogs have gone on to insinuate that Vivian is indeed having a thing with Timmy Tdat, but the elegant singer has decided enough is enough and decided to clear the air on the matter.
I talked to Vivian about the whole saga and asked her if they really are in a secret relationship or if these are just mere speculations. Vivian did not hesitate to comment on the issue, revealing that she’s not involved with the popular rapper.
Principal Resident Magistrate Cyprian Mkeha presided over the first set, while Principal Resident Magistrate Huruma Shaidi conducted the proceedings of suspects in the second group.
The first group received tougher conditions as compared to the second one. Suspects in the first group were ordered to execute bond of 20m/- (Kenyan Sh 928,366) each with one reliable surety, who would sign bond of a similar amount.
The suspects were also ordered to report to the Central Police Station in the city twice a month and that such order would remain in force for three years. Mkeha ruled that there was no any other way the suspects could be monitored on their behaviour without reporting to the police. He pointed out further that before their arraignment, there was no doubt that the suspects were subjected to interrogation by the Tanzanian police.
The second group, before Magistrate Shaidi, got more lenient conditions, as the suspects were required to execute personal bonds without sureties of 10m/- (Kenyan Sh464,230). They were also required to report to the police station twice a month, but such order would subsist for only one year.
