TV journalist Jacque Maribe and her fiancé Joseph Irungu aka Jowie will remain in custody until October 24.

The two have denied killing businesswoman Monica Kimani on September 19 at Lamuria Gardens Apartments.

Monica's body was found dumped in a bathtub, throat slit ear to ear and hands tied to the back.

However, in a bail application through lawyer Katwa Kigen, Maribe says she is innocent in the eyes of the law.  She adds that there is no evidence showing she was involved in the murder, hence, it would be unfair to keep her in custody.

However, the prosecution opposed the bail request.

Today, the judge ordered the two remanded until Wednesday next week when Jacque's bid to be released on bond will be heard.

They will remain in custody until October 24.

"We will hear the application from 11.30am," Wakiaga said.

Meanwhile, the High Court has barred the media from reporting on businesswoman Monica Kimani's links before her murder.

Judge James Wakiaga, citing sub judice, said he would be upset if the media continues influencing the thinking on the case yet it is still in court.

"My attitude towards these people (media) is negative!...Those statements that you keep on telling us about this case, stop writing them from now," he said. "I am an old-school judge... if I am influenced before a case, I get upset."

Wakiaga said anybody who shall give information "will find it very difficult" now that he has taken over the matter.

"...from now that I am taking this matter.... let us try and be kind to all of us...the information you put out there will put me in difficult position if I acquit these guys," he said.

Before the mentions started, Jacque got to meet all the people who has showen up in court to support her. Some of them were her workmates while others were close family and friends.

They include her immediate boss, Francis Gachuri, her BFF, Dennis Itumbi, Citizen TV's Faiza Maganga and Samuel Maina.

Her squad was represented by Terryanne Chebet and Monicah Kiragu in the parked boardroom.

Of note was Terryanne's boss, MP Moses Kuria who owns Fanaka TV where Terryanne is the CEO.

Moses has been a close friend of Jacque for years now. It is rare to find friends who stick closer to you when all your chips are down.
