Naseeb Abdul Juma, popularly known by his stage name, Diamond Platnumz is one of the biggest artistes in Africa.
The 27 year old singer, who calls himself the Rolls Royce Musician From East Africa has over the years proved his prowess in music, always giving his fans the best, with numerous nominations and awards.
Diamond Platnumz was recently nominated in the African Musik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2016 where the award ceremony went down in Dallas Texas, but the Salome hitmaker was nowhere to be seen during the red carpet or the main event.
Diamond Platnumz won the Best Male East Africa category in the AFRIMMA show, which was not such good news for him since he walked away with three awards in the same awards last year, though he wasn’t present to receive the trophy.
Other than that, Diamond Platnumz was also in the list of performances for the AFRIMMA night, and a week ago, he had even put the event as part of his scheduled performances for October, which begs the question of what happened for him to suddenly pull out the last minute.
Most of the nominees around Africa attended the much anticipated African Musik Magazine Awards in Texas, like our very own Sauti Sol, Akothee, Nigeria’s Tekno, Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee and Harmonize and many others.
Harmonize, who is signed to Diamond’s WCB Wasafi walked away with the Best Newcomer Africa award despite being a new and upcoming artiste, best known for his song Aiyola and Bado.
Talking to Mseto’s Willy M Tuva, Harmonize revealed the real reason Diamond Platnumz was not able to attend the coveted awards. According to him, Diamond missed his flight when they were leaving, because they were supposed to travel together.
He also mentioned that Diamond was not the only one who missed the flight since his dancers were not also able to catch the flight, though they really wanted to attend the event because to them, this was a very important award ceremony more so for Diamond.
“Diamond alimiss ndege wakati tulikuwa tunatoka, ilikuwa tuje wote lakini alimiss Ndege na si yeye pekee yake pia dancers kina Moses Iyobo , sababu za kimsingi zimewafanya wasiweze kufika lakini,” said Harmonize.
Well, I guess people would have loved it if Diamond aka Chibu Dangote would have explained the reason he was absent at the AFRIMAAs to his fans himself. Meanwhile, Chibu is set to perform at MAMA awards on October 22 where he’s also been nominated as the Best Male and Artist of the Year categories.
