The late music industry legend Bruce Odhiambo was today eulogized at a star studded memorial mass at Nairobi Baptist Church.

Bruce was said to be President Uhuru Kenyatta's close pal. Gossip pundits even claimed that they shared a drink or two and roast goat ribs, their favourite brand being Glenlivet single malt whisky.

The two met in high school at St Mary’s School, Nairobi. They have been boys since then.

When Bruce passed on, Uhuru posted a powerful tribute.

“Bruce Odhiambo was a go-getter. He was a talented musician who joined hands with others to entertain Kenyans with the legendary Mombasa based Safari Sounds Band and Spartans,” said Uhuru.

Uhuru was represented at today's mass by the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Today, Bruce Odhiambo's sister Lily Quiette, retold stories of their youth and how her older sibling always ensured she always had the best.

At the memorial mass, Lily had a request to Bruce's friends.

"As we say farewell to Bruce, I want to remind you all, if you have eaten at his house or you have ever been invited to the studio to have a meal with him, just remember we are asking you to do the same for us, invite us back."

Lilly continued, "Make sure his children are invited. We are missing a big part of our family and we ask you to keep us in prayers and just stay with us as we  go through this journey."

She added that to further honour Bruce, they custom made the casket to fit his life's passion for music.

"One thing that is important and I hope all of you will appreciate, Bruce's casket is designed just for him. Because of his love for the piano, we decided to honour him with a piano cover on his casket."

Lily finished off her tribute saying, "I love you my brother. We will miss you."

Bruce will be laid to rest in Koru, Kisumu on Saturday. May he rest in peace.
