This should really be a “photo of the day” type of article. Still, it is rather hilarious seeing the president of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta or as I am pretty sure you all call him, Uhunye, attempt some martial arts thrusts and strikes.


I will not bore you with the details but it is clear that he was sending off the national Tae Kwondo team. Interestingly, did you know Tae Kwondo is the Korean school of martial arts? Here is a short history about it:

The name Taekwondo is derived from the Korean word “Tae” meaning foot, “Kwon” meaning fist and “Do” meaning way of. So, literallyTaekwondo means “the way of the foot and fist”. The name Taekwondo, however, has only been used since 1955 while the arts’ roots began 2,300 years ago in Korea. –MSU-Edu
