The last two songs from the Mathare-born artiste were all about love for women, as he tried to insert a few Godly lyrics to give the tracks a bit of a gospel touch, but his fans were not feeling it.
His last song featured Tanzanian actress, singer and fashionista Jokate Mwegelo, who is also Alikiba's on and off girlfriend, and fans felt like the message in the song was nothing to do with God or Christianity, as if he was leaning more on the secular side.
He then went to delete all his Instagram photos recently, which is not the first time he has pulled this stunt, and a couple of days later, he shared a post that offended some his fans and fellow singers.
In the long post, he had a photo with Sauti Sol, Nyashinski, and Collo, secular artistes who dropped some of the best gospel songs this year, revealing that he expects them to be the Male Artistes Of The Year in Groove Awards 2016/2017.
He went on to apologize to Kenyans on behalf of all gospel artistes, saying that they have not been living in accordance to God's word and that they had let their fans down and also confessing that the last song he feels he had dropped as a genuine gospel song was Barua.
Bien of Sauti Sol was not so pleased with Bahati insinuating that he would be fit for Groove awards nomination, asking him to make music because it comes from the heart, not because he wants to win awards.
Well, it looks like Bahati was keen on his fan's criticism and decided to take it positively, he's now gone back to making real gospel songs that he started out with, and of course his Instagram stunt was in preparation for a new song, just as we thought.
The Lover hitmaker has now dropped a song with veteran Kenyan gospel songstress Jemimah Thiong'o, dubbed Kwa Moyo Wangu. And from the comments, the fans are really pleased and love the song.
The song is truly different from what the young artiste has been singing in the past months, as he takes time to thank God for his blessings and favours, promising to worship Him forever. Bahati even throws in a few lines in English.
