Denge by Matata
Denge by Matata
To say that Sheng is dynamic is quite the understatement. I have never known a language that is so fluid, it adapts to the changing times and evolves to suit different neighbourhoods and occupations. That is the beauty of Sheng.

I was wandering across these internet streets (today things are as dry as the Sahara) and I came across a rather awesome song called Denge by Matata and I was blown away by the new Sheng words. Apparently denge is the new Sheng word for lasses...

I am an old soul and when I speak Sheng you can tell I only learnt it from a time when I needed to use it and haven't bothered to update myself on the latest terms since. The lads who make up Matata (Ken, RichieMathu, Freddy, Festus and Marcus), however, are up-to-date with their street terminologies as you can tell from their song.

The jam itself is shot in the diaspora and done by Kikapro. The jam was produced and mixed by one of their own, Festus Mwenda and the instrumental was created by Alvin Brown Beats while mastering was handled by Milianmastering.
