After the world was treated to the movie of the decade “Avengers Endgame,” we were all left asking ourselves. What next for the MCU? Right after Endgame surpassed Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie of all time. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege had our attention at this year’s San Diego comic con where he revealed the plans for the next two years of the MCU.
Expect to see a range of sequels to some of your favourite movies. With the success of some phenomenons such as Black Panther, it only seems obvious to bring them back. Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as T’chala but we don’t know whether Michael B Jordan will be back to play his iconic villain Erik “Killmonger” Stevens. We don know director Ryan Coogler will be back to direct the movie. There will also be a Captain Marvel 2. Doctor Strange 2 titled “Doctor strange in The Multiverse of Madness.” Director Scott Derrickson says it’ll be marvels first horror movie but don’t worry it’ll still be pg-13. Thor 4 titled “Thor Love and Thunder” we get to see Natalie Portman back to play Jane Forster maybe this time she gets to become Thor just like in the comic books. Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3. And just in case your wondering, no it won’t be called “Asgardians of the Galaxy.” Director James Gunn confirmed it. The storyline of most of these movies is pretty much shrouded in secrecy with only a little detail being given.
You should also expect a range of new characters in the MCU. Unfamiliar faces with unfamiliar storylines. This includes “The Eternals” which are comprised of a group of individuals who are basically gods in the MCU with Angelina Jolie joining the cast. “Shang Chi & the legend of the Ten Rings” is also a new movie in the MCU. It’ll deal with martial arts and the mandarin whose a classic MCU villain. Unfortunately, we don’t know what part Keanu Reeves plays in the MCU yet.
Expect to see the comeback of some of Marvels most beloved characters. Black Widow is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1st 2020. Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff. Unfortunately, yes she’s still dead. So the movie will take place somewhere in between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
For those of you who were long speculating that the X-Men and Fantastic Four will join the MCU, congratulations you were right. In an announcement that blew the roof. Kevin Feige announced that the X-Men and Fantastic Four will join the MCU.
The surprise announcement that we probably didn’t expect was when Oscar award winner Mahershala Ali joined the stage and put on a cap engraved with the word “Blade” on it. Yes, that right you probably knew blade when Wesley Snipes was playing the role in the “Blade” trinity. Now it’s being brought back with such an accomplished actor such as Mahershala Ali playing the role of the vampire hunting half breed.
Along with a list of movies. Expect to see a list of series coming on the Disney+ streaming service. This includes the series “Loki” where we follow the god of mischief in an alternate timeline when he got away with the space stone. We get to see what kind of chaos he’ll bring. Alongside “Loki”, we get “Wandavision” which follows the Scarlett Witch and possibly the revival of Vision. Maybe this time they’ll get to live in a much more prosperous life or maybe not. We also get the “Falcon and Winter Soldier” story where we follow the two post-Avengers Endgame.
We also get the Hawkeye series following Clint Barton in his time being Ronin. Post-Avengers Infinity War when his family died in the snap. And finally, we get the ” What if…?” series. An animation series being voiced by the main actors of the MCU. It won’t directly affect the MCU in any way it’ll just be a series that’ll focus on things that might have happened differently in the MCU. Answering the questions like what if? And no Robert Downey Jr isn’t in the cast so it seems as if Iron man is truly done.
With all these movies and series coming out. The audience definitely had one question. What about the Avengers movie? Currently, there is no news about the Avengers. Be but we do know we are going to be thoroughly entertained in the next couple of years.
