Rapper YNW Melly wants to be released from jail on bond as he awaits his trial for the double murder of his two friends.

According to court documents obtained by Complex, the 20-year-old rapper's lawyer says he's not a flight risk, turned himself in, and has 'never purposefully missed a court date'.

The young up-and-coming star and  collaborator, will be facing the death penalty if convicted.

'He knew what the charges were pending against him and he still chose to self-surrender,' Attorney Bradford M. Cohen wrote in the court documents.

Melly has also 'never purposefully missed a court date' and is not a flight risk,' reported the publication.

The Attorney also called into question the physical investigation itself, claiming there was 'very little actual evidence.'

He also pointed out that, Melly, real name: Jamell Demons, 'has lived in the area his entire life and all of his immediate family members live in the area.'

The Murder On My Mind singer and Cortlen Henry were arrested by the Miramar Police Department in February and charged with two counts of first degrees murder for the October 26, 2018 deaths of Christopher Thomas Jr, 19, and Anthony Williams, 21.

The State says they have proof beyond reasonable doubt that the pair shot and killed Anthony and Christopher as well as shot their own car to make it look like a drive by, before taking them to the ER - where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Broward County, Florida, State Attorney's Office revealed their intent to seek capital punishment.

Prosecutors said Demons committed the crime for financial gain and they are seeking the death penalty due to the 'especially heinous, atrocious or cruel' nature of the murders.

Authorities said the murders were 'committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification'.

In February, police said forensic evidence led them to determine Demons as the suspect who gunned down the two men before he staged the killings as a drive-by with the help of Henry.

The rapper, who recently released the hit track 'Mixed Personalities' with Kanye West, took to his Instagram page hours before his arrest writing: 'To all my fans and supporters, no I did not get locked up in Washington, but I am turning myself in today.'
