American rapper Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, aka Doja Cat, makes history as the first female rapper to headline Coachella.
Doja was seen wearing various outfits during her performance.
Doja first appeared by popping up on the stage’s extended catwalk, opening the night. She was wearing an all-white hazmat suit.
She followed with a fur bikini and another bikini made from the same long white blonde hair that her initial wig was made from.
She also wore two-piece shorts and a top set made out of clear plastic, but as it was chilly, she and her dance crew put on floor-length (seemingly faux) fur jackets.
Doja wore a white fur jacket while the dancers wore black.
During a long segment of the show that was performed from the top of the scaffolding, Doja wore reflective tights, a shimmery belted bodysuit, and boots.
The show ended with her and her outfit covered in mud.
She didn't perform some of her songs which include “Woman” and “Say So,” and instead focused on more recent material.
Doja also performed “WYM,” with a crew of puppeteers making it chase her around the walkways that went out into the crowd, having no clear connection to the song but adding another dash of kooky fun to the show with its presence.
The final flourish was when, during the show closing, the satellite stage was transformed into a mud pit, into which Doja and her dancers crawled and got themselves dirty.
During her recent concert, Doja Cat brought out several guests including Teezo Touchdown, T-rex, 21 Savage, and A$AP Rocky to perform a verse on their respective collaborations.
However, none of the guests stayed on stage for long except for the South African a cappella group, The Joy.
Dressed in all white, the five-man group surrounded Doja and sang in Zulu with beautiful five-part harmony.
The lineup included Shakira, Kesha, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, A$AP Rocky, Will Smith, Becky G, Busta Rhymes, and a partial reunion of the Fugees featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean.
