Lionel Messi's Argentina world champions post has broken the internet.

The post has surpassed the famous  egg (that overran Kylie's post) to become the most liked picture in the history of Instagram.

After winning the 2022 World Cup finals, Messi posted an image of him happily lifting aloft the World Cup trophy alongside several other images of his teammates celebrating... him kissing the golden world cup and a few others from the game.

 

The photo has attracted multitude of love from fans all over the world to the extent of breaking the record and becoming the most liked post in the world.

It currently has over 60.1 million likes and counting surpassing the previous record that was held by an egg since 2019, which has 56.4m likes. It also smashed Ronaldo’s own record post of the duo sitting together at a chessboard for a collaboration with Louis Vuitton ahead of the World Cup, which stands at 42m likes.

The 35-year-old's Instagram following has also incredibly grown since his win. He has gone from 392 million followers to over 402 million followers.

 

Messi's national team Argentina beat France in Sunday's World Cup final crowning them 2022's winners.

Sharing several images of his world victory the 35-year-old captioned his post highlighting that it was his dream to help Argentina win its third crown and his first.

"CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!! 🌎🏆

So many times I dreamed it, so much I wanted it that I still don't fall, I can't believe it......Thank you so much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us.

We prove once again that Argentinians when we fight together and united we are able to achieve what we aim.
