Rotimi shares why their kids have a 1-year gap

American-based, Nigerian singer Rotimi shared that he's now ready to close the fatherhood chapter.

Sharing a video of him working out the artist opened up on why he'd had kids so close together.

Rotimi (an only child) shared that the move came over the fact that he does not wish for his kids to be lonely growing up.

Adding that he wants them to have people (siblings) they can have good relations with and they can depend on.

He further revealed that the gap between his son and the incoming second-born is small because he wants them to grow together relating to each other

"So I am working out right now and I am just thinking like the number one question in people's minds has been like, yoh why have kids back to back like that?

As for me, I grew up an only child so I want my son to have someone that he can count on, that he looks to his left and he knows they are going to be there for him, that she looks at her right and she knows she has an older brother who is going through the same thing at the same age,” started off the artist.

Rotimi added that Vanessa shared the same idea as he did and had no problem having kids so close to each other in age.

"Like I did not want that 6 or 7 year gap where they're older. I wanted them to know each other when they're still kids. I wanted them to be very close in age.

And Vee understood and wanted the same thing.

We feel like that connection, that companionship will matter when they're in their 30's or 40's.

Plus I ain't trying to have anymore kids man! I'm not trying to be 40 with 5 kids."

The couple stepped into the life of parenthood in September 2021 after they welcomed their first born, a son named, Seven Akinosho.

The two announced they're expecting their second child a month ago. They revealed that they'd soon be bringing a bouncing baby girl into their home. 

“Baby No. 2 🙏🏽🎊✨GLORY TO GOD … it’s a girl 💕,” Vanessa Mdee captioned the pregnancy announcement video. 

Rotimi also put up the video with a caption that says; “Baby #2!!! It’s a girl! 💖🤍💖”
