Beyonce & Jay Z splurge Sh27.4 billion on most expensive home in California

Award-winning musical celebrity couple Beyonce and Jay Z have just splurged millions on a new house in California.

The two artists have just purchased a home in Malibu for $200 million, making it the biggest purchase in the history of the state, surpassing the previous record of $177 million.

Turns out Beyonce is just excellent when it comes to smashing records, and not just musically. And also she wasn't playing when she sang, “I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it,” in her hit song 'Formation' 

200 million dollars guys! That is over 27.4 billion Kenyan shillings!

The new purchase would have been the largest ever residential purchase in the country but it fell just 39 hundred thousand dollars short. As the most expensive house recorded is a New York City apartment someone bought for $238 million.

Interestingly enough, if they wanted to they would have broken the nation's record.

As it turns out, the pair actually got a deal the home was originally listed for a whopping $295 million, but the two multi Grammy Award winning artists were able to bring the price down by about a third. 2nd best ain't bad though.

The mansion is a 30,000-square-foot gated monstrosity in the heart of Malibu's Paradise Cove area also known as Billionaires' Row and it sits perfectly overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is a minimalist masterpiece, a modern concoction of concrete and glass.

The L-shaped mansion opens to vast, open spaces marked by concrete hallways and floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. Out back, patios lead to a swimming pool, cabana and a flat, grassy lawn perched on a cliff overlooking the beach below.

The record-smashing mansion was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, and it was previously owned by William Bell Jr., one of the most successful art collectors in the world.

Photos of the almost palatial home are scarce as it never actually hit the market. The mansion was listed rather "secretly" as a pocket listing, which means it was shown only to a select group of qualified buyers.

To celebrate their new multi-million purchase the power couple was thousands of miles away dining in London.

This is Jay and Bey's second big housing purchase in the Los Angeles area. Back in 2017, the couple plunked down $88 million for a Bel-Air mansion and funnelled millions more into the home to push it over the $100 million mark. That same year, they also nabbed a $26 million mansion in the Hamptons. 

I wonder when they get to spend time in these extravagant flashy homes.
