The hosts congratulated him on the engagement news, to which he said: 'Appreciate that.'

Adding:

At the end of the day, you want to always, always have real people around you, period. Whether it's male or female. And everybody that's been around me, they've been around since day one...'

I always show respect when respect has been given, and people that have been by your side, you're supposed to honor that.

Kendrick and Whitney have been in a relationship for over 14 years - since they were both in high school.

In a 2015 cover story for Billboard, Kendrick talked about what Whitney means to him: 'I wouldn't even call her my girl. That's my best friend. I don't even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion -she's somebody I can tell my fears to.'

In the same interview, the rapper revealed that he doesn't drink or smoke marijuana, and that he's been called a 'recluse.'

Kendrick was born in Compton, California and released his first mixtape at the age of 16.
