On 4th December, Kenya’s most compelling wedding show made a return to our screens.
Starting from last Saturday, a freshly packaged season of Our Perfect Wedding started airing on Maisha Magic Plus.
Our Perfect Wedding is a show that targets to celebrate love, wedding cultures and wedding preparations the Kenyan way. Couples give the viewer a front row seat to what they deem as the “perfect” wedding inviting us to join on the journey every step of the way.
Viewers are kept in the loop with all the drama, trip ups and magic of the road to the big day, all whilst adding cheeky nature to the show. At the beginning of each episode, each couple will give us a list of things that will make up a checklist of what they believe must be flawless for their big day to go without a hitch.
Speaking to an exclusive media roundtable, Margaret Mathore, Head of Channels, Mnet East Africa mentioned that Mnet was listening to DStv and GOtv viewers to understand their changing lives, the pressures they face and what matters most to them.
“We are committed to using these insights to put viewers at the heart of all the decisions that each of us make every day, said Mathore. She promised a revamped show that will empower viewers with key wedding planning tools.
“This time round, viewers should prepare to be amazed, inspired and entertained at the drama that comes with planning a wedding. Things can go right or horribly wrong, and this show promises to bring the best and worst days of couples as they look forward to begin a lifetime journey together. This is an exciting, and refreshing show that our viewers on both DStv and GOtv can look forward to,” said Maggie.

The exciting, deeply engrossing show will feature couples that tied the knot 5years ago on Our Perfect Wedding. It will delve beyond the beautiful wedding ceremony captured to find out how their marriage is fairing on.
What’s more? The show will seek to find out what their biggest joys and challenges in marriage are? What milestones have the five years brought? Have these 5-year-old couples ever felt like giving up at some point? The show will dive into this and so much more into their 5-year journey. Our Fifth Anniversary will make our viewers laugh and cry. It explores everything from the joys of childbirth to the struggles of setting up a new family. “
According to the show’s producers Documentary & Reality TV Ltd CEO Eugene Mbugua, who is the brainchild of Our Perfect Wedding and have been in partnership with Maisha Magic since 2016. “We, however, had to take a break for almost two years because of the pandemic. We are excited to jump back on this fantastic new Season of Our Perfect Wedding and tell the love stories that move Kenya. We’re delighted that Maisha Magic entrusted us again with creating and producing a new show, Our Fifth Anniversary, that explores what five years of marriage have been for our couples,” he said.
Equally ecstatic was Our Perfect Wedding Host & Narrator of Our 5th Anniversary, Angela Mlay’s who joined the team in 2019.
“It's a delight to partner with Maisha Magic through D&R TV Ltd as the host Our Perfect Wedding.
Since joining the team in 2019, the goal has always been to tell love stories creatively and with authenticity. This new season is not any different. We hope to keep our viewers engaged with the different motions and emotions that couples go through leading up to and on their big day.

The second wedding show to air this December will be Our Perfect Wedding, which is a Maisha Magic Plus production, brings to the fore all the drama that comes with putting together a wedding from getting the perfect wedding planner, the perfect flowers, perfect dress, perfect cake and even meeting the in-laws. The show demonstrates Maisha Magic Plus commitment to provide premium local content to the Kenyan audience in original form and fashion.
