On Monday, comedian Oga Obinna was unveiled on Kiss FM breakfast as the man who is replacing Jalang'o on the show.
Obinna and Jalang'o are very good friends and the comedian says he is not coming to Kiss to try and fill Jalang'o's shoes.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kalondu Musyimi, Obinna said;
"I am bringing Obinna, i am not bringing Jalango' I am not trying to be Jalang'o, not trying to fit in Jalang'o's shoes. Before you judge, listen to the show."
Obinna was among a number of potential radio hosts who co-hosted the breakfast show with Kamene and he says he wasn't left scared by the vetting process.
"I have done radio for a very long time, I love it and I enjoy it, so I don't feel the pressure. What gives you the pressure on radio is if your co-host is giving you a hard time. But if they are easy...it is the best job you will ever do," Obinna said.
Asked whether Jalang'o gave him any hint on who the station will be settling on as his replacement, Obinna said;
" He told me they will try me, Ofweneke and others. I remember telling him 'let's try and see'. Even if I wasn't here, I wouldn't feel bad because I would know they are looking for something different."
Obinna says he was prepared for any outcome and was ready to accept his fate if the station didn't settle on him.
"If any other person got it I would not have felt bad. If it is your time you will get it. Personally, I was prepared, I was always rehearsing for this opportunity, I was ready...I was just sitting waiting for the call," Obinna shared.
