President William Ruto was rooting for France at the World Cup finals but unfortunately, that did not go as per his expectations.
France's loss in the penalty shoot-out to Argentina resulted in him losing a bet to his wife Mama Rachel Ruto.
The first lady was supporting Messi’s team Argentina and they took home the World Cup trophy.
However, President Ruto is out here struggling to pay his wife after she won the Bet.
Ruto said that he will be selling some of his chicken to pay the debt after being told Hustler Fund can’t help him.
“Hustler fund wamenikataza siwezi lipa bet nayo wanasema pesa ni ya husle. Isorait. Kwangu hakukaliki. Lady #1 na watoi ni pressure. Wale kuku zangu wataniokoa nilipe. Lakini naulizaje? Bet huishanga na 90min ama Xtra time huesabiwa? Even penalty shootouts? Kuuliza tu?,” President Ruto tweeted.
In a rejoinder, Mama Rachel congratulated Argentina for the win but at the same time reminded Hubby to honour their bet.
“I want to join the rest of the world in congratulating the Argentina National Football Team, Captained by Lionel Messi, for winning the 2022 World Cup tournament.
“Wear your three stars with pride! Bill, pay your bill,” Mama Rachel Ruto wrote.
She continued; “The emotive game saw fingers crossed across the world. But, as is the essence of all sports, a best among equals had to be found. And, Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalty kicks after a thrilling 3-3 draw. What a match!
“On this National Day of the State of Qatar, the host of the 2022 World Cup, we have been treated to a spectacular and iconic 2022 World Cup final match between Argentina and France,”.
While congratulating Argentina, Ruto said that he will pay Mama Rachel once they land in Kenya.
“Congratulations Argentina for winning the World Cup. My African team at the World Cup played a superb game. Will pay my bet!!! All round wonderful game. Tukutane home.
“Supporting the African team in the world Cup finals. Good luck Rachel & kids as you support the other side. Remember to pay the bet!! Either way, expecting fine football,” a series o tweets from Ruto read.
