DJ Suraj

Drip Fest, Kenya's most anticipated concert will be going down on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. South African star Ami Faku is set to headline the day-long concert at the Waterfront Karen.

While Faku is the highlight of the show, Radio Africa also got a deep, exciting, and skilled pool of talent that will supplement her during the African-inspired festival.

They are; SURAJ, Sultan, Big Nyagz, Ms. Bune, and Dj Rubba.

In case some of you might not know who these great performers are, we have got you covered and will profile DJ SURAJ in this article.

Mpasho was able to interview the artiste who was not only delighted about the December show but was also happy to also talk about himself.

So who is DJ SURAJ?

I am a 28-year-old Kenyan-born DJ, music producer & sound engineer. SURAJ creates contemporary electronic music infused with traditional African, cultural and musical elements.

Since making my debut in Nairobi, I have emerged as a dynamic and trailblazing DJ/ producer in East Africa. I have now set my sights on becoming a beacon in Africa’s burgeoning electronic music scene.

What drew you to Afro House?

I was heavily influenced by electronic music and wanted a sound I can relate to and Afro House brings the best of both worlds.

Describe your style;

I’d describe my music style as contemporary yet rooted and African.

Do you also perform other genres of music apart from Afrohouse?

Yes, I try to perform at different venues and for different demographics while sharing the gospel of African electronic music.

What is your best-ever memory as a DJ?

Some of my best memories would be travelling around Africa performing and meeting music lovers! From Morocco to Ghana, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and many more.

Your expectations for Drip Fest?

Big expectations of a fun-filled afternoon with beautiful people, great music, and a jolly good time!

Why should guys come through?

Because it will be the perfect melting pot of art, music, and fashion and it’s December so why not?

I don't know if there is a better advert for the beautiful transcendent occasion that will be Dripfest manifest than SURAJ's statement above; 'It's December, so why not!?'
