ODM party leader Raila Odinga is mourning the passing away of Luo Council of Elders chairman Ker Willis Otondi.

He died aged 98.

In a statement on Friday, Raila said Ker Otondi's passing is a great loss to the Luo community.

The former Prime Minister added that it is also a big loss to Kenya as a country.

He described Otondi as a distinguished member of society, as he condoled with his family and friends.

"Ker Willis Otondi's passing has left us with a heavy heart; it is a great loss for the wider Luo nation. Kenya has lost a distinguished member of society," Raila said.

"Sad for the Luo nation to lose him at this moment. My condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire community."

Otondi breathed his last at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital where he had been admitted for awhile.
