Police are investigating an incident in which an unidentified man died by suicide after jumping off the 15th floor of a residential building in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

The incident happened at Dennis Garden Apartment where the man had made an attempt to jump off but hesitated three times.

Police said the incident happened on Saturday, February 18 evening and was captured on security cameras.

The deceased was clearly seen attempting to jump from the rooftop but was hesitant and he was alone 10 minutes before the incident.

He then went to the rooftop and rolled down to the fall. No suicide note was found there. His mobile phone was recovered from his pocket and taken for analysis.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

In Kajiado town, one Joseph Musyoka, 44 was found dead in his house after he allegedly swallowed poison.

He had locked his house from inside and police were forced to break in to access the scene where the body was found lying on the bed facing down with an empty bottle of pesticide and a suicide note.

The scene was processed and the body was removed to Shalom Community hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Cases of suicide are on the rise in the country. Police say they record up to at least two cases daily amid calls to address the trend.

In Kangemi, the body of a known robbery suspect was found on a river bank.

The suspect, 38, had been accused of among others rape, serious assault and phone snatching.

Locals said they spotted the body on Sunday morning at Kanung'aga village within Muslim Area along the Nairobi River Maumau bridge.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased might have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped in the river.

The body had two visible injuries on the forehead and a stab wound at the back of the stomach.
