On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, a section of traders from Nairobi staged demos against what they termed a ‘Chinese takeover” in Nairobi.

Demonstrators held placards written "Stop China invasion, protect our businesses. Save our future generation".

They marched to Deputy President Rigathi Gahagua’s Harambee Annex office seeking an audience with him. These demos come amid the China Square uproar that has dominated the headlines for weeks now.

The traders held demonstrations from downtown to Harambee Annex which houses the DP's office.

The demonstrators were from the Nyamakima, Eastleigh, and Mutharua business associations.

Police dispersed them as they had blocked parliament road.
