Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) General Overseer Reverend Lucy Natasha has been forced to cancel her Miracle Monday Service due to the Azimio La Umoja demonstrations that rocked the better part of today.

In a statement, Natasha informed her congregation that they will not be able to converge in CBD as usual for the weekly service.

On Monday, March 20, 2023, Nairobi CBD was a no-go zone as police engaged Azimio supporters in running battles.

Important announcement

“Due to the ongoing disruptions happening within Nairobi, we wish to inform all our church members, that we shall NOT be gathering at ECC Sanctuary for today's Miracle Monday Service.

“As such, we ask our members to connect with us ONLINE via Facebook and YouTube for our online Service for a time of preaching, prayers, and ministration. Let's continue to pray for the nation of Kenya and let there be peace, unity, progress, and harmony.

Protests called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga dominated the better part of Monday in Nairobi and other parts of the country including Kisumu, Mombasa, Migori, and Kitale.

However, Police managed to prevent Odinga and his supporters from gaining access to the CBD.

Speaking in Kamukunji on Monday, he said the protests will be held every week on Monday.

The Azimio leader said the mass action will not end until Kenyans get what is rightfully theirs.

"Tumeanza vita. Kila jumatatu kutakuwa na mgomo. Kutakuwa na maandamano. Vita imeanza haitaisha mpaka wakenya wapate haki yao," Raila said.
