Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), had warned Kenyans against joining the cryptocurrency.

Immaculate Kassait, the Data Commissioner, has advocated for greater caution while signing up for WorldCoin.

"The ODPC is aware that WorldCoin has now been launched and is processing sensitive personal data in a manner that requires a demonstration of proper safeguards under the Data Protection Act, 2019," reads a statement from the commission.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, co-founded Worldcoin, which seeks to give its customers a verified digital identity, a cryptocurrency token called Worldcoin (WLD), and a cryptocurrency wallet app.

Worldcoin - It is a platform for digital identification that intends to offer everyone on the planet a simple way to confirm that they are real humans and not a robot or an AI program.

The Worldcoin platform generates unique, secure identification numbers for each user by scanning their iris.

The company believes that because the codes are stored on a decentralized blockchain, it is impossible to copy or spoof them to construct fraudulent identities or commit fraud.

The project has already drawn a fair amount of criticism for its ambitious objectives and questionable procedures.

Worldcoin has been accused of using deceptive marketing practices to collect personal data with meaningful informed consent.

Additionally, Worldcoin has been under fire for aggressively pushing the network in underdeveloped nations.
