Maxwell Mwamburi, the popular cake boss just came out of hiding, and ever since, he has been generating headlines on a regular basis.

In a recent interview, Maxwell, who also goes by the aliases Hunty Maxine and just Maxine, admitted that he had been masking his genuine name due to a severe fear of public scrutiny.

He also revealed that he had been queer since childhood and he truly struggled with an identity crisis.

“I’ve been like this since childhood... It’s something I struggled with for quite some time. It was about time I came out of the closet and just do me and live life my own way,” Maxwell said.

The businessman who also adopted the role of a tea master claimed that he had previously attempted to come out to the public but was treated with prejudice and hatred.

“There’s a point I came out on my Instagram stories but the insults were too much so I just went back to the closet. I pretended, but now I came back as fully gay,” he said.

Maxine continued by saying that despite the fact that he had come out openly as gay to the public, not all of his family members and friends had accepted him for who he really was.

He continued by saying that since his father's public stance, they had not spoken.

"I know my dad has already been told but I don’t care because he has already lived his life, but maybe with time he will come to terms with it,” said Mwamburi.

When the businessman was asked about his previous relationships, he admitted that he simply dated women for show.

His most recent romance, which was solely intended to appease his family and friends, was with socialite Soila.

“The main reason why I stayed with her for that long was because of family. It lasted like one and half years but it was mostly because of family and friends.

I wanted to seem “normal” and I had attached the whole idea to my business because I thought that in Kenya to get the support you need to seem that way,” Maxine sadly said.

Maxwell hailed Soila as an incredible friend and emphasized how she would persistently push him to come out since he was unhappy trying to be straight.

The businessman insisted that having a phony relationship was a mistake because it cost him a lot of money.

“I regret it so much because it cost me a lot. But my guy knew that she was a dummy girlfriend, but that is the most I have done for family,” he said.
