Photographer Jacktone Odhiambo has denied murdering LGBTQ activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba.

He appeared before High Court Judge Richard Nyakundi and denied that he murdered Chiloba between December 31, 2022, and January 3, 2023.

He allegedly committed the offence at Noble Breeze apartment Chebisas area in Moiben subcounty, Uasin Gishu County.

"I did not murder," was Odhiambo's response when asked by the judge to answer to the charges.

The judge had also asked the suspect if he was aware of why he was in court.

"I am here because am a suspect in the murder of Edwin Chiloba," Odhiambo said.

Odhiambo was represented by lawyer Mathai Maina who informed the court that he would apply for bond for the accused.

However, the state counsel informed the court that the suspect would be supplied with committal bundles for the offence.

He further said they were yet to get the toxicology report, call data records, geo mapping report, inventory of recovered items and M-Pesa statement which is part of the evidence to be supplied to the suspect.

Mathai said they want some of the personal effects of the accused to be returned to him.

He said bank account credit cards and ATM cards were to be given back to him because they had not been listed as part of the evidence to be tabled in court.

However, the state counsel said they had all material confiscated and would be used as evidence in court and can not be returned to the suspect.

Lawyer Mitullah Gilbert for the family of Chiloba said they would also file documents opposing bail for the suspect.

Justice Richard Nyakundi allowed the family to file the documents on the bail application.
