South African rapper Refiloe Phoolo popularly known by his stage name Casper Nyovest has revealed that he won't be attending his friend's (AKA) memorial or burial.

Casper shared the news on Twitter after a fan asked him if he would be pulling up after the Forbes family announced the itinerary of how AKA would be laid to rest.

The North West-born rapper revealed that he will be out of the country during the said dates and thus will miss the late "Fela in Versace" hitmaker's send-off ceremonies.

A Twitter user identified as eyed_boy in a tweet asked him ‘@casspernyovest you pullin’ up at the memorial?’ to which he replied saying that he was caught up in work.

"Unfortunately I’ll be out of the country for work but if I was around I would’ve gone. I would’ve gone to the funeral too." Started with Casper.

He went on to defend his stance and maintain that he and AKA were friends no matter what netizens chose to think or focus on as he gave AKA his flowers for helping his music career,

"No matter how you look at it, I and Kiernan shared a lot of great moments together and he contributed to my industry so I have to pay my respects." The rest of Casper's tweet read.

Kind of weird to me if asked because work can be put on hold especially if you were close to the person. I mean the memorial I might understand but the funeral too?

His last send-off?

According to the report released by AKA's family, his memorial service will be held on Friday, 17 February 2023 at 3 PM at the Sandton Convention Centre.

However, there is a twist. In as much as AKA's memorial will be open to the public so as fans and friends can pay their respects, attendees will be required to pay an entrance fee.

Yes, the Forbes family is charging mourners to view their son's body and the entrance fee tickets are limited.

The rapper will then be laid to rest on Saturday, 18 February in a private ceremony.

Casper and AKA had a long-standing beef from way back.

However, their beef came to a brief end in 2016, and to mark the end of the fight, they shared a hug in a Johannesburg nightclub, Taboo.

According to Casper, even before the hug, they had already sat and ironed out their differences and decided to put the past behind them. But the truce didn't stand for long and the two fell out again.
