Cabinet Secritary of Tourism reveals she's in talks with Lupita Nyong'o for the actress to market Kenya's tourism

Kenya's Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza just revealed that Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o might soon take up the role of marketing the country’s tourism sector.

It is kinda hilarious that it is almost 3 years later and the Kenyan government is apparently still trying to get hold of award-winning Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong'o.

The CS revealed this on Wednesday during an interview on Citizen TV.

According to her, the ministry is on a new project where they hope to bag a couple of high-profile celebrities and influencers who are currently flying the Kenyan flag higher than it has been over the years to help push the country's tourism sector to a bigger global market.

Speaking during the interview the Ms. Malonza said “I have been trying to reach out to Lupita and I think we’re at some engagement and I believe soon she will come on board to market Kenya.

We’re also going a notch higher to reach out to influencers and heroes like Eliud Kipchoge, one of our influencers,”

Doesn't sound so promising so I'm low-key kind of waiting for Lupita's response in regard to this.

Remember back in 2021 when the then Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala appointed British high-profile veteran model Naomi Campbell as the Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador?

A move that angered a huge section of Kenyans including the Oscar Award-winning actress.

It got really funny (well mostly awkward for Mr.Balala) when in a bid to justify using a foreigner to market our land the then CS made a comment where he highlighted that the ministry had failed in its efforts to reach Lupita for the past five years, claiming it was impossible to get past a coterie of agents and managers.

“I know everybody is asking why not Lupita. Lupita has commitments and her managers cannot allow us to access her. We’ve spent the last five years looking for Lupita,” Balala said.

Shortly after his statement, Lupita hit back at the CS calling him out for lying.

Taking to her Twitter page the widely celebrated actress shared a photo of her laughing as she appeared to refute Balala’s claims.

Captioning the said picture she wrote, “Me when I hear the Kenyan Ministry of Tourism has been looking for me for five years.”

Shady yet classy.

Hopefully this time around, the new CS isn't pulling our legs and is actually in communication with Lupita, and it actually bears fruits.
