What would lead you to turn down a $5 million offer? Morals? Religion? Well, buckle up dear readers because for Grammy award winning artiste Burna Boy it was just sheer enjoyment.

The 32-year-old recording and performing artist recently disclosed that he turned down a lucrative $5 million (Sh.754,500,000) offer to perform in Dubai, UAE, due to his inability to smoke weed while there.

How insane is that? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

Burna Boy made the revelation during a rehearsal he had with his band mates namely, Outsiders, where he casually opened up about the offer terming the proposed cash as "a small thing..."

I aspire for such small things, sighs in broke.

In the video, Burna Boy can be seen in the middle of a performance, as the vocalist professes his affinity for marijuana while crooning about his incessant usage of the plant.

The Nigerian highlighted how in the country smoking is prohibited in parks, beaches, and other public recreational facilities in Dubai under the Emirati law.

“Just know I turned down Dubai money, 5 million dollars. Na is a small thing because I don’t like going where they won’t allow me to smoke weed Igbo,” the self proclaimed African Giant casually said.

Burna's revelation has caused quite a stir online with some people noting that the artist's revelation showed that he was an addict and needed to seek help while others stood with him.

The majority were just crying over how anyone would let such an offer slide.

Over the years Burna has made his stance with the illegal narcotic known, fully embracing it.

In 2022, Burna Boy launched his own cannabis brand domestically, which is called BRKFAST. At the time, Burna Boy spoke on the negative stigma that comes with smoking marijuana in his homeland, pointing out that it’s taboo to be seen smoking or in possession of the plant however almost everyone still does it regardless.

“It’s not a zero-tolerance. It’s like everybody does it, but nobody wants to be the one that is seen with it. It’s just kind of hypocritical out there. Everybody smokes weed," the 'Last Last' hit maker said.
