Does being fat hinder or limit your chances of finding a suitable life partner? This is the question digital content creator Murugi Munyi has been pounding over.

Through her Instagram stories the TMI podcast co-host narrated how a follower had messaged her noting that she feels her being overweight has categorically reduced her chances of meeting a life partner.

Responding to the comment, Murugi who happens to be a plus size lady highlighted that she found the sentiments intriguing as she has never "suffered" from that and has always been desirable to men.

"This is crazy thinking to me. I've always been plus size and still always felt desirable to men.

Whether or not I am, I've always FELT like I am. Are those two different things though? Hmmm," opined the mother of 3.

Murugi went on to add that all this was news to her, this is after other followers sent in their replies agreeing with the first follower who was lamenting over her weight affecting her dating life.

She highlighted she understands that people have preferences but never did it cross her mind that fat people were suffering when it comes to dating.

Giving herself as an example, Murugi highlighted as a plus size lady (even before she had her liposuction done) she had met her partner and they had a beautiful family together thus why she didn't believe being bigger reduced ones chances of finding love.

"I think this is crazy.. cause there are so many plus size women who have met partners and settled down (me included) and there are many slim women who are also still single and searching!

Of course there is preference huko kwa market but I don't think without proper research we could say that the bigger you are the lower your chances are of meeting a life partner," Murugi wrote.

Finishing up the entrepreneur opined that even with preferences the bottom line was people mirror you, so if you carry yourself with confidence they'll see that and if you are insecure with your weight and ashamed of it people will notice and treat you accordingly.

"I definitely agree that people react to you based on how they see you carry or speak to yourself. If you carry your weight as a burden and something to be ashamed of, that's exactly how you'll be treated. If you carry yourself with confidence, that's exactly what will radiate from you and what you'll receive as well.

This goes for anything.. weight, height, anything you may be conscious' of..." the last of her post read.
