Multi-award-winning theatre and screen actress Foi Wambui has come out to publicly criticize individuals who like hating on the Kenyan acting industry when they have nothing to contribute.

The actress who also doubles as a content creator highlighted it was comical throwing stones at the scene when they are not even in tune with anything going on in the industry.

Foi's rant was accompanied by a video from veteran actress Nyokabi Macharia (who has starred on Netflix's Big Mouth) who had hoped on the ongoing social media trend where one introduces themselves by what they do followed up by a series of norms or irks that they go through.

"I'm a Kenyan actor of course I am going to get 'aki babe na si kwa ubaya coz sionangi zikiwa like engaging. I don't know if you have watched this South African show but it is so dope I have been binge-watching it the whole weekend. So I think it is something to do with script writing, nyinyi huandika script zenu aje?'" Nyokabi animatedly said.

Responding to Nyokabi's sentiments, Foi shared the Instagram video on her stories with the caption that read;

"This! Also, if you say that 1st one, just get out! We actually can't be friends! I'd rather people who watch and criticise constructively."

She went on to put said people on blast adding;

"But saying you don't watch Kenyan be we have horrible stories, yet the last Kenyan show you watched was Vitimbi is actually HILARIOUS,"

The brand influencer went on to add that it was unfair for people to heap so much pressure on the Kenyan industry that has just started picking up as compared to industries such as those in America or South Africa that have been there for ages and have big money budgets.

"And trust me, as filmmakers, we see all the criticism about Kenyan shows, agree with some, and value the feedback.

But listen, you can't compare an industry that is basically just starting to pick up, to industries like Hollywood, Nollywood, and the SA industry that have been around for ages."

Also, can the hand claps be as loud as the criticism, if not louder? I hate that when one thing is wrong, that's literally all you focus on and highlight.

What about the things that were actually amazing? Why aren't you as loud about that?" Foi argued.

Finishing up she maintained that in her opinion the Kenyan industry was working wonders and she could not wait to see it get even better.

She urged people to support Kenyan creatives with as much zeal as they can and soon the industry will be done crawling on its knees and up jogging and running, literally unstoppable.

"IMO, filmmakers are making magic!

There are some f** ups for sure, but it's just the beginning.  Anyway, that was just a little rant to say, please keep watching Kenyan content.

We have a long way to go, but if you support us as we crawl to get to where we need to get as an industry, we get even more excited to learn to walk.

One day, we won't just be walking, but we'll be running, and you won't be disappointed that you held us down," the last of her IG rant read.
