Police in Kiambu County have arrested a suspect who allegedly killed an 8-year-old boy.
The man is said to have also injured a woman in the incident that took place in Ndenderu area.
According to the police, the man committed the crime after sneaking into the house his ex-lover lived with the boy.
He is reported to have hacked the boy to death before making attempts to kill the housegirl who had raised an alarm to alert the neighbours and call out for help
When the suspect attempted to flee, he fell into a pit and the police had a hard time removing him. Kiambu firefighters were called to the scene to help with removing the man from the pit.
The man's ex-lover, who was also in the house managed to escape after being attacked by the man.
She later recorded a statement at the police station.
The injured woman is receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 hospital while the boy's body was taken to Kihara Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
