Renowned media personality, author, and human rights activist Janet Mbugua has penned a letter of validation and encouragement to Gen Z and youths relentlessly engaged in protests demanding accountability from the current regime.

Sharing a screenshot from her notes app on her Instagram feed, the mother of two reminded the youth that their anger towards bad governance, corruption, and police brutality was justified, no matter what others might try to insinuate.

"I don't know who needs to hear this, but your anger is entirely justified. You are not foolish for demanding better for yourself, your family, your community, and your country," began the former news anchor in her lengthy advice to the demonstrators who have dubbed themselves 'modern-day freedom fighters.'

She highlighted that those fighting against oppression, despite all the negative odds stacked against them, were on the right side of the country's history that is currently writing itself.

"You are not delusional for standing on the right side of history and hoping for change, even when those meant to protect you are antagonizing you," part of her admirable post read.

Finishing up, the seasoned and widely celebrated media personality reminded the protestors that they were entirely not at fault in this fight. Janet praised the protestors for still fighting despite the fear of being detained or worse, losing their lives.

She highlighted that although not everyone had the courage or capacity to acknowledge it, the anger expressed on the streets was felt and shared by a multitude of other Kenyans as well.

"It’s not you; you are not the problem. The broken system is a hindrance to us all. Your feelings are valid, and your rage is shared by many.

Your daily courage is real, and striving for a better future, even at a great personal cost, is noble. I hope that when all is said and done, you can look back grateful for the groundswell of support from your peers, family, places of worship, and community and together, we can say, ‘It is done; we are free. Signed Janet Mbugua," the last of her post accompanied by the Kenyan flag, clasped fist, and heart emoji read.
