Kenyans woke up to the harsh reality that Charles Bukeko better known to many as Papa Shirandula is no more.
He breathed his last on the morning of 18th of July 2020 at Karen Hospital after a short illness.
Speaking on Citizen TV at the hospital grounds, Jalang'o, whose fame rose from acting on the local series, Papa Shirandula mourned the legendary actor.
"It has been a long journey with him at work . He is the one who gave me the name Jalang'o. He is the one who called me in to work on Papa Shirundula " KISS FM Jalang'o shared
Taking to social media, he posted a picture of the actor and captioned,
Thank you for Everything Papa! Rest in Peace 😭😭😭
In a statement, President Uhuru condoled with the family of the popular Kenyan TV comedian referring to him as a gifted storyteller.
AS A GIFTED STORYTELLER WHOSE CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF KENYA’S ENTERTAINMENT SECTOR WILL BE CHERISHED FOREVER.
His role as Papa on the famous Kenyan series created a space where everyone could relate with him regardless of age.
Charles was he was considered a hero back at home and he leaves behind his wife and three children. Until we meet again, may Papa Rest In Peace.
