Flamboyant former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko while celebrating our very own Ferdinand Omanyala's win where the 26-year-old bagged Kenya's first gold medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England announced that he has plans to host a 10-day celebration for the sprinter.

Sonko took to his Instagram page to congratulate Omanyala writing, " as you all were deep in your sleep dreaming, that one Kenyan who is the fastest man in Africa Ferdinand Omanyala has won gold for Kenya clocking 10.02 seconds"

He also accompanied the post with promises to the young sprinter for making the country proud.

" Congratulations, and if the government agrees I will organize a big party to welcome you with 15 limousines to receive you" Part of Sonko's message read. And in true flamboyant Sonko fashion he shocked the internet by promising to gift Ferdinand Omanyala his own Limo.

Sonko added, " and I will give you one Limo for free. We love you so much for making us proud."

Omanyala's win is no small fit, it is the first gold medal Kenya has bagged in that specific category in 62 years!

Yes, yes people you read that correctly. Over 60 years with no gold, I get why the whole country is going crazy and the promises that Sonko made.

Omanyala clocked 10:02 seconds in windy conditions to become the first Kenyan since Seraphine Antao in 1960 to win gold in the sprints at a major championship.

Reynold Kipkorir Cheruiyot in the world under 20 championship bagged Kenya its second gold medal after winning the men's 1500m.

Omanyala's win comes in barely a month after he failed to qualify for the 100m final after finishing fifth in heat 3 of the semi-finals at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field, Oregon, United States due to issues he'd experienced with his Visa and travel arrangements.
