During the Azimio la Umoja political rally, presidential aspirant and party leader Raila Odinga took to the podium to address Azimio supporters, unveil his chosen running mate and in between introduce parliamentary aspirants at the event.
Owing to the fact that he was reading from a list as there is no possible way in the heat of the rally he could remember everyone's name and the ward they were vying for a few errors were bound to ensure.
And it really did, Raila got Mathare MP aspirant, Bahati name wrong even after the gospel musician struggled to introduce himself to the presidential candidate.
Bahati in the video is heard shouting his name and trying to get Raila's attention as the party leader tries to find his name on the list of aspirants.
"Bahati, Mathare," the singer repeatedly said before Raila called out Lang’ata parliamentary hopeful comedian, Jalang’o.
In the midst of confusion, the Azimio presidential aspirant called 'Mathew' before mentioning Jalang’o.
Kenyans being Kenyans trolled Bahati for Baba's mishap.
However, Bahati decided to make light of the situation.
Sharing the video on his Instagram, Bahati commented on the viral video saying that he has accepted the new name 'Mathew' by his party leader, Raila Odinga.
"Mnasema Baba ameniongezea jina tu hivyo... Bahati Kioko a.k.a. Mathew. Nimekubali ( You guys are saying that Baba has added me a new name... Bahati Kioko a.k.a. Mathew I have accepted it)."
He probably chose the move so as to keep on his leaders good side owing to the fact that he had been asked to step down from the parliamentary race and had to cry in public to appeal for his ticket.
Bahati was finally issued with the Jubilee nomination ticket to contest for the Mathare MP seat last week.
