Beauty mogul Kim Kardashian just obtained a piece of royal history!
The mother of 4 is the new owner of the late Princess Diana's famous diamond-encrusted cross necklace adding another piece of history to her growing collection of iconic jewelry and memorabilia.
Apparently, the reality TV star got super lucky and was able to snag the iconic piece within the last 5 minutes of the sale and it didn't come in cheap.
Kim had to part with $197,453. which roughly translates to about 24.5 million Kenyan shillings for the royal piece that was being auctioned at a Sotheby's auction.
24.5 million for a neckpiece!
The stunning necklace which is known as the Attalah Cross was famously worn by Princess Diana back in 1987 at a London charity gala. The late Princess of Wales had the diamond cross on a long pearl chain, paired with a purple-tinged Catn. Kim Waherine Walker dress with the necklace hanging low down her torso.
Following her death, in 1997, the necklace was never seen in public again.
Speaking about the piece, Head of Jewellery, Sotheby’s London Kristian Spofforth said, "this is a bold piece of jewelry by its size, color, and style which cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether it be of faith or fashion - or indeed both.
We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life within the hands of another globally famous name."
The pendant was purchased in the 1920s by court jeweller Garrard and is set with square-cut amethysts and accented by circular-cut diamonds. The cross has a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats and measures approximately 136 x 95mm.
It was then purchased from Garrard in the 1980s by Naim Attallah. Through her friendship with Attallah, Diana was loaned the piece to wear during her royal engagements and private events.
This, however, isn't the first time 42-year-old Kim Kardashian is getting her hands on iconic pieces.
The SKIMS founder owns clothing worn on stage by the late Michael Jackson and was also famously loaned Marilyn Monroe’s dress for her appearance at the 2022 Met Gala.
