A businessman was on Wednesday killed by armed thugs in a broad daylight attack in Kibra, Nairobi.

Witnesses and police said the man known as Oscar Ngugi Komo, 42, was shot by two thugs outside his shop in Mashimoni area.

His brother tried to save his life in vain. He rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspected thugs first ordered Ngugi to surrender all his cash before they shot him at close range.

“The man was about to go to the market when he was accosted by the thugs. They first started conversing in a local dialect before ordering him to surrender the cash,” said a witness.

And when he saw them, he tried hiding the money but they had already seen him and opened fire in a brief confrontation.

They shot him at close range and grabbed Sh12,000 he had before fleeing the scene.

In a bid to get away, the thugs then started shooting into the air to disperse anyone who might have thought of pursuing them, the witnesses said.

Police arrived at the scene of the crime minutes after the incident despite the whole ordeal happening near the police station.

The man was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to the gunshot wound.

Nairobi Police boss Adamson Bungei said they are looking for the gang.

He said they are following crucial leads on the whereabouts of the gang and urged locals to cooperate in getting them.

In Nakuru’s Bondeni area, a woman aged 41 was stabbed and killed in a domestic quarrel.

The woman’s body had multiple stab wounds when police arrived to pick it to the mortuary on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
