Radio personality Oga Obinna and actress Catherine Kamau alias Kate are set to headline the much-anticipated Kitenge Fashion Fest and Awards Gala at Rupaz Mall in Eldoret.
The Kitenge Festival aims at supporting and growing local talents ranging from designers, models, and artists.
“WAAAAAAMPOTO!! we have a MAJOR PLAN on 29th of this month. You better get your tikkoz early,” Obinna shared.
According to the organizers of the event, the Festival was born out of the need to revive the African Print that was slowly dying away 8 years ago
“After realizing that the love for Kitenge fabric otherwise known as African print was slowly dying we came together back in 2015 to reignite the love for Kitenge.
"The fest aims at showcasing the versatile, bold & vibrant feel of African print, and so far major progress has been made,” Maxivan said.
A one-of-a-kind event, it features a fashion show by top designers in the country giving them a chance to showcase their Ankara designs while recognizing the best designs.
The fact that event attendees also have to rock Kitenge outfits makes the event quite outstanding, to say the least.
“The event aims of supporting and growing local talents be it designers, models, and artists,” another organizer MC Nick the Trend noted.
The 6th Edition of Kitenge Fashion Fest and Awards Gala will be hosted by Oga Obinna and Kate actress on April 29, at Rupas Mall in Eldoret.
Another organizer of the event Nebert Nebo noted that they are working on taking the event internationally.
“The dream is to take the event international and we are actively working towards achieving that,” he stated.
He also appreciated that such efforts were getting the attention of the Kenyan government with #KitengeOutfits being embraced even in Parliament.

Though they hope to get even more support from the government the organizers are grateful for the support that they have got from corporates and fans.
