Nairobi Women representative Esther Muthoni Passaris has taken to her TikTok account to explain why she has been missing in action over the last couple of weeks.

The legislator revealed she felt she had abandoned her daughter and needed to create time for her especially since she is now married and practically belonged to a new family.

"Okay so I am at the airport in Abidjan headed to Greece for a meeting.

I have been here for the last two weeks, I took a leave of absence from parliament because I needed to spend some time with my family, get to know my son-in-law and the family to which my daughter got married into," the politician candidly said as she waited to board her plane.

She went on to reveal that when her daughter, Makenna Ngugi got hitched to her Ivorian husband Malick back in June 2022, she was super busy with campaigns and barely got to spend time with them.

She also clarified that the wedding ceremony that took place in Nairobi, Kenya back in December 2022 was a white wedding and their second.

"My daughter got married to in June 2022. Back then I was so busy campaigning, I only came here for a week and then they came to Kenya in December and we did the Christian wedding.

I just felt that I hadn't given my daughter, my son-in-law and the family any time so I thought while government settles and the financial year ends and a new one starts let me spend some time with my family,"  said the politician.

She further disclosed that she was excited to be flying to Greece as it would give her an opportunity to divert some time to bond with her late father's family seeing as they had not spent a good time together since his passing on.

"I'm excited because while in Greece I'll get to connect with my heritage, I'll also get to see my father's family and spend some time with them since we haven't seen each other much since daddy died," Passaris said before she went on to address the backlash she'd faced while defending herself on why she voted yes for the proposed Finace Bill.
