In an interview with 10 Magazine, Nigerian star Wizkid said Nigerian Hip Hop is dead.
“If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore. I don’t listen to rap – that sh*t is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same sh*t, rap on the same beats and the same flows.” He was quoted
His opinion stirred mixed reactions from fellow Nigerians, especially rappers. Wizkid later took to snapchat to call them broke boys, saying he only recognized three rappers in Africa.
"Can't believe y'all broke boys really thought Big Wiz will talk about y'all. Wow. Y'all not even rappers. Nasty C, Sarkodie, Black Sheriff the only rappers in Africa. "
He went on to write "48 hours still no rap song? lol"
Khaligraph Jones has responded to Wizkid saying people should watch out for him.
"Make African rap great again. Hip Hop is alive, let me show y'all."
