Pastor Kanyari has been controversial since joining TikTok. The preacher has been going live on the app with several Kenyan TikTokers.
Recently, he was called out after his TikToker friend visited him in church and brought him gifts including a packet of condom.
After receiving backlash on social media, he apologized.
"Msichana kutoka ukambani aliniletea condoms katika madhabahu. Mimi sikujua, mimi nimefanyia Mungu kazi for 30 years na sijawahi ona mtu ambaye anaweza leta vitu kama hizo katika madhabahu."
(A girl from ukambani brought me condoms in the altar. I did not know, I have worked for God for 30 years and I have never seen someone who can bring such things to the altar)
Adding "Hakuna mtu hakoseangi, msichana huyo alikosea na mimi pia sikutaka kumpiga maana ningeongea angepigwa na washirika."
(I was wrong, the girl was wrong and I also did not want to hit her because if I spoke she would have been beaten by the congregation)
He said the lady was a TikToker who saw the preacher on the social media app and decided to visit his church. He added that the lady is not born again.
"Nimekuja kuomba msamaha. Naomba mnisamehe kwa hilo jambo. Na jambo kama hilo halitajirudia tena."
(I have come to apologize. Please forgive me for that. And such a thing will never happen again.)
Kanyari has now revealed that he has gotten over Ksh 400,000 since joining TikTok.
