As their wedding anniversary fast approaches Veteran recording and performing artist David Mathenge popularly known as Nameless is opening up about some of the hurdles he went through trying to bag his wife.
Nameless opened up about a time when he got beat up for publicly showing affection to his then-girlfriend, fellow artist Wahu Kagwi.
A move he says made him actually stop too much public display of affection with his wife to this very age.
Wahu however doesn't seem to mind because if she did there is no way they'd have survived their close to 18 years of marriage.
Speaking to young couple Bencyco and his wife Waanjiru Njiru during an episode of their Joyride Podcast, Nameless narrated the ill-fated day that is still etched on his mind.
"I was walking with her, holding hands walking towards campus and I will never forget that day.
It was seven o'clock in the night and I was like oh, I have such a nice hot girlfriend and she loves me and then there were five guys walking, approaching us and one guy really short guy was walking and then he approaches and I see him doing this (raising his hand) and I thought he wants to give me a high five, but shock on me.. the guy slapped me properly pap!" Nameless revealed animatedly while the whole crew burst out laughing expressing their shock and confusion.
Nameless went on to add that he asked Wahu to take off while he tried squaring with the guys but instead of the then young Wahu running away as instructed, she just stood there looking at the five men trying to beat her man up.
"I told Wahu, next time you see men try to fight or there is drama you just ran away. Take off, just go. Just remember that," Nameless added.
Luckily his fellow campus mates, a crew of rugby players who were friends with Nameless, happened to be at the area and saw what was happening came to his rescue the five men to scampered away and left them alone.
