Davido Day! Why Nigerian artist honoured by City of Houston

Davido is currently on the last lap of the American leg of his Timeless Tour with the last stop being Houston Texas where he sold out the 21000 capacity Toyota Arena.

Nigerian superstar Davido has been honoured by the city of Houston following his recent performance there.

The city, through one of its members identified as Edward Pollard in a bid to show their appreciation for the award-winning Afro beats star, announced that the 7th of July shall forever henceforth be known as Davido Day.

Davido is currently on the last lap of the American leg of his Timeless Tour with the last stop being Houston Texas where he sold out the 21000 capacity Toyota Arena.

During the show which was held on July 7th, 2023, a member of Houston City Council, Edward Pollard who had attended the concert went ahead to announce July 7 as Davido Day in the City of Houston.

Edward handed the "If" hit maker a signed proclamation from the City's mayor Mr. Sylvester Turner after publicly reading out the proclamation to the ecstatic crowd.

The proclamation was made by the Mayor of Houston City Sylvester Turner in a letter that captured Davido's impact as a superstar and his contributions to the music industry through his hit songs.

Sharing a snippet of how his show went down, Davido posted a video of the crowd cheering on, on his Insta stories. Captioning the video he wrote, "Houston (crying/fire emoji) God I thank you,"

On March 31, 2023, Davido released his fourth studio album 'Timeless' which has broken first-week African records across all major streaming platforms.

The album delivered several hit songs including 'Unavailable' which features South African artist Musa Keys which is enjoying international success and is among the top Afro beats songs released in 2023.
